Football 501 is a two-player game inspired by 501 in darts. Both players start on 501. You take turns naming players who scored or played for a chosen club, and their goals or appearances are subtracted from your total. First to hit exactly zero wins.
If you go below zero, you bust and your score for that round resets.
The team list won’t load. This usually means a network problem. Check your connection and try again. The first load on a fresh install takes a few seconds.
I named a player who definitely played for that club, but the game says no. Football 501 uses canonical player names from our database. Try the full name (e.g. “Frank Lampard” rather than “Lampard”) or check the spelling. If you’re sure the name is right and it’s still being rejected, let us know and we’ll check the data.
A player’s goal or appearance total looks wrong. Stats are sourced from publicly available football data and aggregated by club. Numbers may differ slightly from other sites depending on how friendlies, cup ties, or older records are counted. If something looks badly off, send us the player and team and we’ll take a look.
My score didn’t save / the game restarted unexpectedly. Game state is stored on your device only. If the app is closed mid- round, the round may need to be restarted. We’re working on better state recovery in a future update.
I want to play solo. Football 501 is designed for two players sharing one device. Single-player modes may come in a future update.
